Odd Man Rush Brewing was founded by 3 hockey friends who bonded over homebrews from co-owner Reid McDonald’s garage. They opened a 15BBL brewhouse this September in Eagle River AK – about 15 minutes north of Anchorage – and when we visited them on their soft-opening day they had 4 delicious beers already on tap.
We sampled Willy O’Ree Oatmeal Stout (5.7% ABV / 30 IBU), Enforcer IPA (6.8% ABV / 67 IBU), Wes Goldie Blonde Ale (6.3% ABV / 16 IBU), and Coach Mac’s Scottish Ale (5.2% ABV / 33 IBU). Some of their upcoming seasonals include a smoked oyster stout, a citrusy Gose, and a whiskey barrel aged imperial IPA.
Their tasting room definitely shows a keen attention to detail, with a tap-wall backsplash collection of Alaska license plates, a large mural of cassette tapes, and a real hockey scoreboard greeting you at the front door. It’s a fun relaxed setting to spend some time sipping brews and chatting with the knowledgeable staff.
